Our Know How

 

Originally this section of the site was entitled “Technologies”. Recently the name has been changed into “Our Know How”. With the time, in fact, we have realized that this title better introduces the concepts that are then described in the various pages of the section.

 

We explain:

  • the technology is strictly connected to a production process, and is essentially given by the possession of a machinery or a plant or a patent. A company buys a machine and therefore comes into possession of the related technology;
  • competence, on the other hand, is a much broader concept that presupposes the possession of the technology but requires both a solid set of technical knowledge (how to use the machinery, which raw materials to use, in which way, what to do and what not to do) and knowledge of the market (what use is the product intended for, how can it provide the buyer with added value?). Competence cannot be bought, it must be acquired. And it is acquired simply by doing things. “Learning by doing” is the English motto. As an activity develops, it generates a flow of knowledge / experiences that lead to competence. This involves both achieving success and making mistakes. And usually, you learn much more from mistakes than from successes (because you understand where the mistake is and the next time you adopt appropriate methods and procedures to avoid it).

 

To give some examples:

  • one can buy a flexo printing machine and thus get the flexo technology. But having a machine is not enough to be proficient in flexography. Indeed, in particular in flexography, it is necessary to accumulate a lot of production experience (use of inks, clichés, printing cylinders, graphics, screening and much more) and a lot of market experience (raw materials, sales markets, communication needs to the consumer and much more) to become competent;
  • the same can be said for laminating films. One thing is to buy a laminator, another business is to know how to operate it and provide customers with the right combination of laminated film.

 

Why do we focus on these points?

 

In our view, competence means to obtaine a much greater Added Value. First of all for the user / buyer, but also for the entire production chain down to the final consumer.

 

Using a competent partner often means obtaining the maximum added value for the entire production chain.

 

In the web pages of this section we describe which are, in our view, our areas of expertise. In what fields of activity we can help our customers to get an high global Added Value, a utility that extends to distribution and arrives at the final consumer.
